Physical Fitness is a major component of physical education here at the Cedar Grove- Belgium Schools. The activities and the games we play are centered around physical fitness. It is not uncommon to have one PE day every two weeks that is designated as Fitness Day. We do administer Physical Fitness Tests in the fall and again in the spring . These are used to see if we as a school and as a district are doing the right thing.  We also can see where each student’s strengths and weaknesses might be.

   P.E.  GUIDELINES & EXPECTATIONS

A key element that contributes to a student’s success and essential safety in P.E. class is appropriate clothing and footwear. Clothing should be conducive to movement and the best athletic shoes should either have laces or velcro straps.

Please make sure your child dresses appropriately and wears appropriate shoes on his/her P.E. days. Students in physical education class are expected to run, jump, kick---move. With all of this movement sometimes shoes do come off people’s feet.

SAFE SHOES

Rubber -soled athletic shoes

Shoes should have ties, velcro, or at the very least zippers.

All shoes should cover the heel of the foot

UNSAFE SHOES

Slip on athletic shoes

Clogs

Dress shoes

Sandals or flip flops

Open- toed shoes

In order to ensure a quality and safe learning environment in our  Physical Education classes, a set of guidelines and expectations have been developed for students to follow. Please help reinforce these guidelines with your child so we all can have a great year.

IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS WILL ALWAYS STRIVE TO:

  • Work safely
  • Be kind and respectful to others
  • Take care of equipment
  • Participate to the best of their  ability
  • Play fair
  • Listen to others
  • Be a good sport
