Veteran's Day Program!
At 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 1918, an armistice ending the hostilities of World War I was signed, until a formal treaty could be signed. At the time, World War I was called "The Great War", (people believed that, after this experience, war would never be fought on a greater scale). One year later, this day was declared "Armistice Day" to honor all those who fought in this "War To End All Wars". After World War II and the Korean War, "Armistice Day" became "Veteran's Day" to honor not just World War I veterans, but all veteran's of America's armed forces. We owe our freedom to these brave men & women, whether they died for our country, fought and lived with the horrors of war, or served as guardians of freedom in peacetime. Communities and schools across the country hold various programs to honor and thank all of America's veterans.
As always, Mrs. Mersberger takes the lead in this program with a special presentation featuring some of her seventh grade students. Always poignant, genuine, and heartfelt, we can't thank her enough for all the work she does to make our Veteran's Day program special. Thanks to everyone else who made this program possible and, of course, THANK YOU to our veterans.
I'd also like to thank Miranda for helping me with photography duties.
