Holiday Hoops!!
On the last day before Christmas Break, December 23, the middle school held a holiday festival that included music and basketball. The 5th - 8th grade, and Staff, choirs sang, the 6th - 8th grade bands played, and the small Staff band played. Finally, the Staff took on the 8th grade boys & girls basketball teams.
I want to thank Ashley & Sam for helping take these pictures and videos!

~~~ The Game!! ~~~
We continue the fun of the Holiday Spirit with a little basketball game. The Faculty & Staff versus the 8th grade basketball teams. Not all faculty & staff members are athletes, and choose not to play. Others have been injured through various activities over the years, some repeatedly, and are on temporary or permanent Injured Reserve. Somehow, eventually, they still manage to assemble a team. For the students, the problem is getting everyone playing time. They have the advantage of not only youth, but fresh, rested bodies to put in. All of this makes for a fun, exciting experience.
This year, the women started off first. The Student Team drew first blood, scoring 2 baskets before the Staff sank their first. However, Miss Courneene, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Bahr, Mrs. Gee, Mrs. Huiras, Mrs. Ketterhagen, Mrs. Kluck (8th grade girls basketball coach), Mrs. Mundt, Mrs. Schwabenlender, and Mrs. Ten Pas got in their groove and soon took the lead and didn't look back. When the Faculty Men took the court in the second quarter, they had a challenge ahead of them. They had a decent lead, but only three guys. Mr. Hatfield & Mr. Sawyer are both on IR. However, Mr. Langer, Mr. Mayer, & Mr. Zablocki have mad skills and decided to take on the challenge of facing the students as a trio. Even with the numbers handicap, the Faculty Men built a solid lead. In the third quarter, the Student Ladies fought hard but just could not chip away at the Faculty's lead. The same held true of the Student Men, and the Faculty Men wrapped the game up in the fourth quarter.
In the end, the Faculty Team won 65 - 17, bringing their overall record to 8-1-1. What really matters, though, is that everyone had a good time in the spirit of the season and school community and camaraderie. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a safe holiday break, and wish all a fantastic New Year!
A special Thank You to our referee, former student player Jesse Anderson!
